...bring your banjo

My dad's father, James, had a brother named George who seemed to be quite a talented fellow. He was an artist who painted landscapes, as well as an entertainer who was asked to bring his banjo when he visited the family. Included in the huge pile of postcards we found (which seems to have been the very first 'email' during the early 1900s! ...apparently, there were multiple daily deliveries of postcards in London, which people used as quick notes, invitations to dinner, or to set up meetings the next day...), was this postcard sent to George - from (we assume) his sister Annie. (postmarked 11:45 AM Dec. 27, 1904)
"Dear G.
We shall be pleased to see you this eve. Bring your banjo. Yours A"

And here is a photo of my grandpa (left) with George (...love those big, stiff, white shirt collars!) with banjo...and their cups of tea, of course. I know they don't look like they are having much fun....
