My Stacey has been having a bad month...she is dreading the thought of going out into the 'real' world - she's interning next semester and then graduates in May. She's stressed. She's feeling overwhelmed. She's
freaked! (See her comment in previous post.) I understand how she feels. I have tried to reassure her that everything will be OK. But she is my perfectionist...she's my worrier...she is always
certain that she is handing in the worst paper she has ever written or has
bombed the test...but she always seems to end up with one of the highest grades in the class. She is facing the unknown in Washington DC and is feeling inadequate and unprepared for her entrance into the world of work. I know she will do fine. But she is certain she will fail. She has told me that all she wants to do is go home and swing on her swingset...
and she wants pie...
You've got it, Stace...I'll make you pie.
(Remember the pie scene in the movie "Michael?")

"What'll it be, folks? Do you have pie? Do we have pie? You're in the pie capital of America. Well, we want.... We want pie. What have you got? I got them memorized, okay? Ready? We got apple, of course... ...banana cream, coconut cream, sour cream raisin. Chocolate cream? Definitely. Chocolate cream and strawberry rhubarb pie and cherry and lemon meringue. We want two slices of everything. And vanilla ice cream on the side.* * * What is it about pie? There's nothing prettier than pie with scalloped edges and slits in the top for the heat to escape. Pie gives you the sense that you're a square person... ...living in a square country. A pie says home. As American as apple pie. I wish I invented pie."

Hi Joan,
Poor Stacey - I can relate on a smaller level. Stephanie is submitting her applications and college essays, trying to get in on the early application deadlines. How do you spell stressed? Well, I know that backwards, it spells what we often use to relieve it.
Hugs, Barbara
Mom,
I finished my paper! 22 pages of writing. 2 pages of citations. 21 sources. But now I have to work on my project and all the work I'm behind on because of it...
