"easy to assemble"....bah humbug!

For Christmas this year, Steve & I bought a bed. The one we were sleeping in was a king-size mattress that was at least 15 years old, had gone through 2 moves in the last 3 years (it was ‘limber’ enough to fold in half to get it up the stairs), and was used by Davy in his basement bedroom as a trampoline/dog bed/substitute for the floor…To say the least, the mattress had seen better days.
When he went out to price beds, Steve discovered that the only option we had was to get a waterbed (a normal king-size mattress would not fit up through our staircase….). So we decided to get one of those soft-sided waterbeds (which is nothing like the waterbeds of the 80s that was like sleeping on a blow-up raft!)

So our bed was delivered last week – in manageable-sized boxes – but we had to assemble it! First, Steve had to re-drill holes in our headboard, then we attached the frame, positioned the box springs, the mattress cover, foam sides, and unfolded about 12 separate large plastic tubes that we had to fill with water…

After about 4 hours of back-breaking work, we finally had our bed put together. Good thing! We were exhausted! Luckily, we filled the tubes to the right level…and we have not had to empty or refill any of them. I have found it to be quite comfortable – and my right hip no longer aches when I lay on it! And here I thought I had arthritis! Apparently, it was only a lump in the mattress…

A Merry Christmas to all!
