PB & J at Potbelly's

We haven't heard from Stacey recently but when I checked The Hill's web site today, I discovered that her name was mentioned in one of the articles. Yes....in the article, not written by her... Apparently, one of the Hill's staff members decided to take some of the interns to lunch...and they critiqued the fare at the Potbelly Sandwich Works...and there you have it - a Restaurant Review! Take a look:

I am a little confused about Stacey's comments, however. Here is the paragraph referring to her choice of sandwich:

"Stacey was more adventurous, opting for Big Jack’s PB&J, peanut butter and jelly on regular bread. She said she ordered it on a friend’s advice even though 'it sounded strange to me.' She added, 'It feels like I’m eating breakfast. It’s pretty good but I think I will go back to more normal sandwiches.' She offered to share a chocolate chip oatmeal cookie the size of a manhole cover, but I declined."

OK - did she really mean that a peanut butter and jelly sandwich was a 'strange' combination? On regular bread, no less? I know that when she was little, peanut butter was not really a staple in our cabinet...so I guess her notion of a 'normal' sandwich is more along the lines of ham and turkey...maybe? Like I said, I am confused...especially when she says 'it feels like I'm eating breakfast.' What have you been eating at Gordon for the past 4 years, Stace? PB & J on toast for breakfast? Or is this type of breakfast common in Egypt? Comment, Stacey, comment!

What the writer of the article niglected to mention was that the Potbellys PBJ is served on french bread (like a Subway roll) that is toasted. Therefore it is warm. Which is fine, but I thought it tasted more like I was eating breakfast (imagine toast and jam)than a proper lunch sandwich. Thus the quote. But hey I didn't write it so it aint my fault, and I got free lunch out of the deal.

Weeeeeell! That explains it! I couldn't imagine how you would think a PB & J on regular bread (like the author wrote) would seem strange to you.....
So - how are you? Meet any uppity-ups in the elevator lately?

Crazy journalists. They are always taking things out of context or misrepresenting the truth!
