No time to relax!

So Caleb and I had been trying to plan Father's Day for the past week...
We knew Steve would be golfing in the morning and, when he got home, we knew he would want to watch the Open (that's a very important golf tournament - for those who do not live with a golfer!). OK - so we were tentatively planning a nice picnic (to avoid the mad crowds at Damon's or whatever restaurant you picked that day). On Saturday, however, we realized that the Open was being played in California and the broadcast would extend into the late evening. OK - so we wouldn't have a picnic...we will eat at home - no biggie.
So Steve got home around 1:00; but he had received a call in the morning from work - so we went over to the prison where he could make sure reports, etc. were completed on an "incident" earlier in the day (nuff said); we continued on to Lowe's to purchase a deck box to store our folding chairs:

(It works GREAT, by the way! And, no, this is not a photo of our deck - we don't have palm trees in central PA!)
However, when we got the deck box at Lowe's, I said to Steve, "I thought that Sam's Club had one just like this - for about $20 less!"
So we went ahead and bought it, but stopped at Sam's - and, sure enough, they had it for the cheaper price so we bought one there, planning to take the other one back to Lowe's.
While we were at Sam's, we saw that they were selling another item that we recently bought - for $100 less! We quickly calculated how many days ago we bought that item, realized that it was the 30th day (the other store has a 30-day price guarantee) - so we ran home, dug out the receipt and Steve ran back to get the $100 credit.
While we were at Sam's earlier, I also realized that I wouldn't have time (with all of this running around!) to make a cake so we bought a tiny chocolate ganache cake that serves 4.
I finally got dinner started, Steve got back to watch the Open, Caleb and Rachael arrived from visiting with their grandparents, and we were all able to sit down and have dinner. We were all exhausted (Rachael had just returned from her trip to Ocean City). No, it was not the relaxing day I had envisioned...but it all ended well. Caleb put the deck box together and we celebrated Father's Day - finally! Yay!

(And - a special note to MY kids: Steve really appreciated your calls and cards on Father's Day. He has six very special kids in his life!!!)
