A different kind of tat

One of the reasons my mom insisted that she go to the particular nursing facility she is living in now is because she has many friends who already lived there. One of them is 94-year old Agnes, a "spinster" who lived up over the hill from our house when I was growing up. She never married and always lived with her married nephew and his family on a working dairy farm. She and my mom were good friends and continue to be, although they are both hard of hearing and, when they get together to chat, neither one of them can really hear what the other one is saying so they sort of carry on two one-sided conversations, which is a bit comical to witness. Anyway, Agnes tats. She can take a spool of delicate string and turn it into a doily - like the one above. My mom had mentioned to her that I had always wanted one of Agnes' tats, so she gave one to mom to give to me. So I framed it on black felt and I have it on the wall at my office. She says she does it without thinking about it. Amazing.
