Last night was Davy's graduation from Bolton High School. Steve and I struggled in our travels east through Connecticut during most of the day, frustrated with the bottlenecks and traffic jams at the most unexplainable places. We literally pulled into the high school parking lot at 6 pm, which was the starting time of the graduation ceremonies. Dan was waiting for us at the front door with tickets in hand and led us into the gym, which was packed solid with parents, teachers, and kids - every one with sweat glistening on their faces...it was unbelievably hot and muggy. As we walked to our reserved seats (in the second row!), Dave was smiling at us from the podium. He was one of the MCs at the event, which made me even more proud of my son. He also graduated with honors (he maintained over a 3.5 average this year). After an hour of sitting in the sweltering heat, and listening to the required speeches by selected students and others, the time finally arrived to present the diplomas. Bolton has a lovely tradition in that the graduate is given his or her diploma by any relative who is an alumni of Bolton or has worked in the school system. So - Davy was given his diploma by me, since I taught at Bolton for a couple of years, and also by his sisters, who graduated in 2000 and 2003. It was a wonderful evening spent with my family in celebration of Davy's years at Bolton - a terrific school in small-town New England.

Davy with his big sisters - Stacey (l) and Jacquie (r).

I can't believe he's going to be in college. It seems like just yesterday he was entering high school. Time flies! Congrats to Dave and you!
